The Abel W. Fairbanks sketchbook, August 15, 1878.

Volume containing pen, pencil, and watercolor sketches by several Cleveland artists, including Otto Bacher and Herman Herkomer, members of the Cleveland Art Club. The sketches are of scenes at the Fairbanks home on the shore of Lake Erie in the Bratenahl section of Cleveland.

Painter, etcher, and illustrator Otto Bacher (1856-1909) was an early American impressionist. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he perfected his etching technique while studying at the Royal Academy in Munich in the late 1870s.
